Three hardy herbaceous Hibiscus chosen by plant hunter Lark Hanham

Twinkling in gardens now with their giant show-stopping exotic-looking blooms, Hibiscus moscheutos are popular __garden plants. While they possess the stature of a shrub, their behaviour and characteristics are similar to a herbaceous plant. In autumn, after flowering finishes, stems should be pruned to ground level and protected with bark over winter to regenerate the fleshy top-growth. Commonly referred to as the Swamp Mallow, they are hardy and easy to grow, which makes them ideal for those who are new to gardening. They’re perfect for quickly filling gaps in the border with long-lasting late-season colour and inspirationally large showy blooms. In May, pinch out tips and regularly water to encourage branching flowering stems and don't let them dry out. They will thrive in full sun and partially sheltered locations. Hardy to -15°C.

Height and spread 1.2m.
